On October 9, reporters learned from Shiqu County Tang-Tibetan Ancient Road New Archaeological Discovery Conference that a grand scale and densely distributed inscribed stones in Tibetan Empire period (Tang Dynasty) were found in Shiqu County by an expert team including members from Sichuan Provincial Cultural Relics and Archaeology Research Institute, the Palace Museum, National Museum of China, School of History and Culture of Sichuan University, Shannxi Provincial Institute of Archaeology and so on. This was the first time that inscribed stones were found in Sichuan.

Since 2010, researchers who investigated cultural relics found remains of 3 inscribed stones in Shiqu County. In June, 2013, the expert team reviewed and identified the inscribed stones. Found at Changsha Ganma Township, in the Ya-lung River area of the eastern Shiqu County, and Luoxu Township, in the Jinsha River area of the western Shiqu County, these inscribed stones are kept in sound condition, including Five Dhyani Buddhas, Mahavairocana photo, Bodhisattva photo, Tara photo, ancient Tibetan inscriptions, etc. All these images are basically in accordance with typical styles in Tibetan Empire period.
