2nd Sino-Africa Cultural Heritage Preservation Forum Was Held in Chengdu

On September 13th, 2nd Sino-Africa Cultural Heritage Preservation Forum was held in Chengdu. This forum was organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sichuan Provincial People's Government, and China National Commission for UNESCO. Concerning the issue of “Sino-Africa cultural heritage preservation policies and international cooperation, director level responsible for cultural heritage preservation in cultural departments, museum directors, professionals for cultural heritage preservation from 14 French language countries and representatives of Africa Union Committee exchanged experiences about intangible cultural heritage preservation and and have in-depth discussion the exchanges and cooperation with officials, experts and scholars from Chinese cultural heritage preservation fields.

  Mr. Ma Shengde, deputy director of Intangible Culture Department of Ministry of Culture, pointed out that measures such as highlighting the cultivation of intangible cultural inheritors, promoting intangible cultural heritages to integrate into modern life, and building systems to protect intangible cultural heritages and so on had greatly enhanced the intangible cultural heritage preservation in China. Gao Minzhong, member of National Intangible Cultural Heritage Expert Committee, and Meng Dezhi, inheritor of Shu embroidery and so on also introduced the innovation and cultivation of inheritors of Intangible cultural heritages. Representatives from African countries such as Tunisia also shared their local experiences in cultural heritage preservation.
