Gyantse Tourism Bureau Held Tourism Promotion in Chengdu

On Jan. 16, 2016, Gyantse government of Tibet Autonomous Region held a tourism promotion summit in Chengdu and granted Tibet Vista, CITS Shigatse Tibet, Xi’an Overseas Tourist Company(listed company, No.000610), and Tibet Global Travel Company as the cooperative partnership.

Situated in the middle of Tibet, Gyantse County is a well-known place with long history and distinct culture. The rich tourism resources qualify it as the major scene in plenty of Tibetan movies and one of the most popular tourist destinations.

Among these three awarded companies, only Tibet Vista engages in Tibet inbound tourism and is a leading company that organizes more than thousands of foreign tourists to travel in Gyantse County, making extraordinary contribution to local economy and employment. In 2015 alone Tibet Vista organized a great number of overseas tourists to tour Mt. Qomolangma, and popularized its winter travel to world-wide tourists. Because of it, Shigatse Tourism Bureau awarded Tibet Vista for its special contribution.

Sun Jiafeng, general secretary of Gyantse County, outlined the future development of Gyantse tourism at the meeting and introduced the abundant tourism resources of Gyantse by focusing on the ancient city, monasteries, and wetland, customs and snow mountains and glaciers, springs, outdoor activities and traditional festivals, etc.

Sun sincerely hopes the travel agencies can help to promote Gyantse tourism in a diverse ways and more tourists can have a better understanding of Gyantse and benefit local economy.

Shortly after the summit, He Bin was invited to visit Tibet Vista Chengdu Marketing Office, and Tibet Vista shared some experience of how to promote Tibet tourism on the internet and overseas market with him.

Gyantse, located in the Nyang Chu Valley 260km southwest of Lhasa, is the fourth largest town situated at the junction of the ancient trade route between Sikkim, India and China’s Tibet. It is famous for its heroic resistance against the British aggression in 1904 and the annual grand horse racing during Gyantse Damar Festival in June.

Traditionally, Gyantse is considered as a stopover from Lhasa to Shigatse. After passing Yamdrok Lake, tourists normally stop in Gyantse to visit major attractions like Manla Nature Reserve, Shimla Mountain ,Karola Glacier, Gyantse Kumbum,Palcho Monastery , Gyantse Dzong( fortress) , Pala Manor.

In fact, with 18 towns and an average altitude of 4,050 meters, Gyantse has more places for tourists to explore. Such as the stunning trekking route to be developed behind Karola Glacier, Jin Ga Cave, and never miss the chance to go for a stroll and communicate with locals in the ancient town between Palcho Monastery and Gyantse Dzong in Gyantse, etc.
