Ceremony to Honor the Return of WWII U.S. Airman Remains Was Held in Chengdu

On October 22nd, Ceremony to Honor the Return of WWII U.S. Airman Remains was held at Jianchuan Museum Cluster of Anren Township, Dayi County, Chengdu. Mr. Fan Jianchuan, curator of Jianchuan Museum Cluster presented the remains of the US airmen in WWII to Mr. James Darby, senior advisor to the US Defence Personnel Accounting Agency. Mr. Raymond Greene, US Consul General in Chengdu covered American national flag on the box of the remains. Mr. Jing Quan, counselor of US Department of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of PRC, signed delivery certificate with Mr. Raymond Greene.

  On the handover ceremony, Mr. Jing Quan said that over 70 years ago, Chinese and American people fought shoulder to shoulder and defend human justice, freedom and peace. Chinese people would not forget the selfless assistance and deep affection of American people. The handover ceremony of US Airman Remains aimed to remember history, honor heroes, cherish peace and create the future. Mr. Raymond Greene said that in many years, China and America had kept sound cooperation in searching for the remains. American government was grateful to the efforts of Chinese government.

  Mr. Wang Ning, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee, and managing vice governor of Sichuan Provincial People’s Government, also attended the ceremony.
